In part 2 of this article series, we tried to understand Epipe configuration. In that article, we see the full configuration of Epipe. Here, we will focus another VPWS types. These types are:

– Fpipe,
– Apipe,
– Cpipe,
– Ipipe.

We will see the configuration of first three one with the differencies from Epipe.

VPWS - Part 2 (Epipe Configuration)
VPWS - Part 3 (Fpipe, Apipe and Cpipe Configuration)

Let’s start with Fpipe then…

F-Pipe

Fpipe, is the VPWS service that provides a point-to-point Frame-Relay service between two nodes on IP/MPLS network.

In Fpipe configuration, the general steps are the same as Epipe configuration. The differences are below:

* Service type is Fpipe,
* Physical port or channel is a sonet port set for Frame-Relay framing,
* SAP definition form is = port : DLCI ( 1/1/1 : 30 )

As an example, the configuration will be like below:

Router # configure service
Router>config>service # fpipe 1 customer 6 create
Router>config>service>fpipe # description "fpipe service"
Router>config>service>fpipe # sap 1/1/1:30 create
Router>config>service>fpipe>sap # no shutdown
Router>config>service>fpipe>sap # exit
Router>config>service>fpipe # spoke-sdp 10:111
Router>config>service>fpipe>spoke-sdp # exit

A-Pipe

Apipe, is the VPWS service that provides a point-to-point ATM service between two nodes on IP/MPLS network.

In Apipe configuration, the general steps are also the same as Epipe configuration. The differences are below:

* Service type is Apipe,
* Physical port or channel is a sonet port set for ATM framing,
* SAP definition form is = port : VP/VC ( 1/1/1 : 0/100)

As an example, the configuration will be like below:

Router # configure service
Router>config>service # apipe 5 customer 7 create
Router>config>service>apipe # description "apipe service"
Router>config>service>apipe # sap 1/1/1:0/100 create
Router>config>service>apipe>sap # no shutdown
Router>config>service>apipe>sap # exit
Router>config>service>apipe # spoke-sdp 20:222
Router>config>service>apipe>spoke-sdp # exit

C-Pipe

Cpipe, is the VPWS service that used to carry TDM frames between two nodes on IP/MPLS network. It is a point to point VPN service that emulates a TDM leased line.

Here, the main configuration steps are also the same as the other types. But there are some diferencies like below:

* Service type is Cpipe,
* Physical port or channel is a CES-MDA,
* SAP definition form is changes depending on the vc-type used Example : 1/1/1: 2.16.1 .

One more type is Ipipe. This is the interworking of diferent types each other. One node is one type and the other is another. This type will be discussed in a different article.

This article series are the overview of the configuration of VPWS services. I hope this artciles will be helpful for you.
