Most Popular CCNA Level Questions

In CCNA Level Network Engineer Interviews, some network questions are asked too much. Here, we will focus on these popular network questions.

What is a Collision Domain?

A collision domain is a network segment where data packet collisions can occur. A hub is one collision domain, each switch or router port is a separate collision domain.

What is a Broadcast Domain?

A broadcast domain is a logical division where broadcast traffic is forwarded. A Hub, a switch are one collision domains while a router has separate broadcast domains as number of its ports.

What is the Difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 uses 32-bit decimal addresses, while IPv6 uses 128-bit hexadecimal addresses and provides a much larger address space. IPv4 uses simpler but less efficient header while IPv6 uses more efficient and optimized header. IPv4 can be configured manually or with DHCP. To configure IPv6, we can use manul, SLAAC or DHCPv6 options.

What is a MAC Address?

A MAC address is a unique hardware address (physical address) assigned to a network interface card (NIC). It is given by the manufacturer and can not be changed normally. It consist of two parts: Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) and Network Interface Controller (NIC).

What is Full Duplex and Half Duplex?

Full duplex allows simultaneous sending and receiving of data. On the other hand, half duplex allows only one direction at a time.

What is the difference between Access Port and Trunk Port?

An access port carries traffic for a single VLAN, while a trunk port carries traffic for multiple VLANs using VLAN tagging.

What is the difference between Static Routing and Dynamic Routing?

Static routing is manually configured, while dynamic routing automatically learns routes using routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP etc.

What is the Purpose of ARP?

ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) maps IP addresses to MAC addresses in a local network.

What is a Subnet Mask?

A subnet mask is an 32-bits number that identifies the network and host portions of an IP address. 255.255.255.0 is a subnet mask.

What is the difference between TCP and UDP?

They are both transport layer protocols. TCP is a connection-oriented, reliable, guaranteed but slower transport protocol. On the other hand, UDP is connectionless, less-reliable, not guaranteed delivery protocol but fast protocol. It is used for real time applications mostly.

What is a VLAN?

A VLAN (Virtual LAN) is a logical network segmentation technology used to separate broadcast domains within the same switch or accross multiple switches. Normally, there is no traffic access between VLANs. But with Inter VLAN Routing, we can provide this communicaiton.
