DHCP-Configuration-Packet-Tracer-ipcisco

In this DHCP Configuration Packet Tracer Example, we will focus on how to configure DHCP server on a Cisco Router. For this Dynamic Hsot Configuration Protocol Configuration example, we will use a simple topology consist of a router, a switch and five host devices. We will configure DHCP Server on the router and that router will distribute ip addresses dynamically to the hosts.

In DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) terminology, there are different devices and roles. These devices and roles are:

  • DHCP Server
  • DHCP Client
  • DHCP Relay Agent

In this DHCP Configuration Packet Tracer lesson, we will do the configuraiton  for the first two: Server and Client. DHCP Relay Agent configuration will be explained in another lesson.

Here, we have talked about packet tracer DHCP config basically. In the next lesson, we will configure dhcp relay agent on Cisco routers. In other words, here, we have configured DHCP server for only one network. But with dhcp relay agent, we will configure dhcp server for multiple networks, with DHCP relay agent we can distribute ip addresses to other networks.
