RIPng Configuration on Huawei

RIPng Configuration on Huawei

In this lessons we will talk about the basic Routing Protocol of IPv6, RIPng. We will focus RIPng Configuration on Huawei routers.

For our RIPng Configuration Example, we will use the below RIPng Network Topology:

Let’s start our RIPng Configuration on these three Huawei Routers.

Firstly, we will enable IPv6 and we will create RIPng with process ID globally on Router 1.

[Huawei-Router-1] ipv6
[Huawei-Router-1] ripng 1

Then, we will enable IPv6 on the interfaces that we would like to run RIPng and we will set the IPv6 address. Here, we will configure our routers to use automatic link-local addresses.

[Huawei-Router-1] interface GigabitEthernet 0/0/0
[Huawei-Router-1- GigabitEthernet0/0/0] ipv6 enable
[Huawei-Router-1- GigabitEthernet0/0/0] ipv6 address auto link-local

After that, we will configure RIPng under the interface.

[Huawei-Router-1- GigabitEthernet0/0/0] ripng 1 enable
[Huawei-Router-1- GigabitEthernet0/0/0] quit

We will also do the same configuration on the other interface that will run RIPng.
